Debbie Diller is Coming!

Hello friends! I hope that you all are having a wonderful holiday today despite the weather. cookieIn my typical rainy day fashion, I spent most of the day on the computer.  This may have been for the best, as I stumbled upon a new website with creative learning games!  And get this - it's called Cookie. Win! To visit the site, just click the cookie to the left. Have fun exploring the games with your child!

Anyway, some of you may be wondering who Debbie Diller is. Math Workstations Let me put it this way: She's awesome. She has been a classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach and is a national consultant. She wrote several books on teaching and is A GENIUS when it comes to math and literacy work stations. Last year, our kindergarten team focused our professional development on setting up math centers the way Debbie suggested. And now.. she's coming HERE! This Thursday! Right to our little school board office. Each grade level gets to send two teachers to the conference, and after our team drew names from a hat, it was decided: I GET TO GO!!! (Is three exclamation points enough? Probably not.) The downside to this incredible experience is that I have to miss my first day of school. The county is providing subs for those teachers that get to go, so it doesn't count against us, but it is a day early in the year that I have to leave the kiddos. I know it will benefit them in the long run.

Last entry, I told you about our Scrabble name project. This went really well until I went to glue the pieces down and for whatever reason didn't start in the middle... so Hannah's name got stretched apart. Sorry, Miss Hannah! I'll remember this mistake next year and start gluing where we start placing tiles.

As always, get a good night's rest! Owl be teaching you more tomorrow!

p.s. It was great to see those of you that made it to last Thursday's PTO fundraiser at Golden Skateworld! Thanks for helping to support our school! A reminder that there is a PTO meeting tomorrow at 6:30. I won't be in attendance because I will be teaching kids' Zumba, but if you can, try to swing by!
